Today marks the 10th anniversary of the deadly Hub Oil explosion.
On August 9th, 1999 a huge black plume of smoke filled the air.
A Hub Oil container holding 30-thousand litres of used oil blew up on 17th Avenue SE in Forest Lawn.
26-year-old Ryan Eckhard and 24-year-old Ryan Silver were killed in the blast.
The explosion left the site contaminated but Hub Oil still owns the land.
This April, the company expressed plans to build a light-industrial centre on the site.
