Calgary Police have laid a total of 30 charges against two people in connection with a cocaine trafficking operation earlier this year that resulted in a massive seizure of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

The investigation was initated following tips from the public submitted through Crime Stoppers.

On April 30, five warrants were executed targeting three homes and two vehicles in the city’s south end.

Police searched:

  • A home in the 500 block of 25 Avenue S.W.
  • A home in the 100 block of Deerfield Terrace S.E.
  • A home in the 8800 block of Horton Road S.W.

According to Acting Staff Sergeant Collin Harris of the CPS Drug Unit, the Deerfield Terrance and Horton Road locations were the primary residences of the accused, while the 25 Ave. S.W. location was used to store illegal items.

The one address located in the 500 block of 25 Avenue was determined to be, what is commonly known as, a stash pad,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Harris. “Drugs, paraphernalia used to convert powder cocaine into crack cocaine, packaging materials, scales. It was primarily utilized to store these drugs and other articles. It was never used as a residence where either of the two accused lived.”

Police also executed a search warrant on a safety deposit box on May 26.

In their investigation, police seized:

  • 3,632.1 grams of cocaine
  • 200 grams of crack cocaine
  • 166 grams of marijuana, many individually packaged
  • 18 grams of marijuana butter
  • 373.4 grams of MDMA

“It’s a substantial seizure,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Harris. “I would say there’s close to $500,000 at the street level.”

Acting Staff Sgt. Harris says the investigation did not reveal any connections to gangs and police do not expect to charge anyone else in relation to the the seizure.
