Throngs of people waited outside of Calgary’s two AHS flu clinics on Friday. An uneasy feeling was shared by many in the long lineups, knowing there was a chance the clinic could run out of supply before they received a vaccination shot.

People began to stage outside of the Brentwood Village Mall at 7:00 a.m., roughly four hours before the clinic’s scheduled opening time, in the hope of securing one of the final immunization shots.

As of Saturday, all influenza immunization clinics in the Calgary Zone, Edmonton Zone, and North Zone of the province are closed and will not reopen this season.

A reserve supply of vaccines has been set aside for children who require a second dose or in the event of an outbreak at a hospital or long term care centre. If your child requires a second dose, contact Health Link Alberta 403-943-5465.
