It’s the final day before the election and advance poll numbers are showing an increase in voter turnout of over 30 percent this year.

Alberta’s Chief Electoral Officer, Glen Resler, released the Unofficial Advance Poll Voter Turnout numbers on Monday for advance polls on April 29th, 30th, May 1st, and May 2nd, 2015.

“We have an unofficial total of 235,410 electors who voted across Alberta at the Advance Polls which represents an increase of 31% in Advance Poll voters compared to the 2012 Provincial General Election.”

During the four days there were 235,410 voters at 335 polling stations compared to 179,820 voters at 222 polling stations over three days in 2012.

The list of electors has also increased this year:

  • 2,265,169 electors on the voter’s list in 2012
  • 2,543,127 electors on the voter’s list in 2015

The 2015 numbers represent a 12 percent increase in the number of registered voters in Alberta since 2012.
