Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams in Lethbridge have arrested nine people and seized a mass quantity of drugs, guns, and stolen property during a bust last week.

ALERT teams, with the assistance of the Lethbridge Regional Police, executed two search warrants at an apartment building on February 20 connected to a suspected drug trafficking ring.

During the searches, authorities discovered:

  • 170 grams of hard and soft cocaine
  • 88 fentanyl pills
  • 94 ecstasy pills
  • 16 grams of methamphetamine
  • 130 grams of a buffing agent
  • $3,461 cash proceeds of crime

Police also found a Colt handgun, several other replica handguns, along with other weapons during the warrants.

A variety of stolen property was also found during the raid, including a 70 inch LED television. Authorities will be working to return those items to their rightful owners.

Jason Anthony Morin, 44, the target of the investigation is charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x 4)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (x 2)
  • Proceeds of crime (x 3)
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of stolen property (x 2)
  • Breach of prohibited order (x 6)

Eight other people were arrested, but police are still working out charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
