A security fence has been erected around the perimeter of a home in Marlborough Park following a decision by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s (ALERT) Safer Communities and Neighbourhood (SCAN) division to close the site following nefarious activity.

On Friday, SCAN closed the drug den situated at 108 Malvern Court Northeast.

An investigation into suspected drug trafficking at the home began in November of 2014 following complaints from neighbourhood residents. Following the launch of the investigation, the Calgary Police Service has responded to the home on 27 occasions, three of which involved suspected drug overdose death.

A search of the home in December resulted in the seizure of heroin, drug paraphernalia, and stolen property.

The home will remain closed for 90 days. During the closure, the tenants of the home are prohibited from entering the building.

Crews have changed the locks on the home, covered the building’s doors and windows with boards, and erected a fence around the perimeter of the property.
