A black bear wandered through streets, alleys and backyards Wednesday morning in southwest Calgary.

It was initially spotted at the Earl Grey Golf Course, where it got caught up in the fence at the end of driving range.

It managed to get free and continued on through the neighbourhood of Lakeview and then into North Glenmore Park.

It eventually jumped into the reservoir and swam south across the water to the shore on the other side.  That’s the last that was seen of the bear – for now.  It may return since a bear has been spotted in the same area over the last several weeks.

North Glenmore Park was temporarily closed.

There are no reports of aggressive behavior, in fact the bear moves along when people are in the area.

Fish and Wildlife has no plans to capture the bear since it does not appear to be dangerous.
