It isn’t officially Spring, but warm temperatures through the weekend have made a complete mess with melting snow in many Calgary neighbourhoods.

Crews were inundated with calls about pooling water in neighbourhoods that has been trapped because of catch basins that are still iced over.

Many residents spent the weekend trying to clear it so they wouldn’t need to wade through the melt water.

The thaw caused a headache for drivers as well.

On Sunday, police closed one southbound lane of Crowchild Trail near Currie Barracks after a massive puddle formed on the road.

Crews worked quickly to clear the plugged storm drain, the source of the backup.

City officials are urging Calgarians to leave the areas around storm drains alone and let nature take its course.

However, if the water is causing a problem, they are advised to call 311.
