Emergency crews were called to the scene of a two alarm fire at a Canadian Tire store in the city's southeast on Thursday afternoon.

Flames could be seen at the rear of the building when crews arrived at the store at 4155 126 Ave S.E.

Crews evacuated the building and firefighters were able to get the upper hand on the blaze thanks to the store's sprinkler system.

The fire started at about 4:15 p.m. Thursday and crews quickly cordoned off the area.

EMS says that a man in his 40s was assessed and taken to hospital in non life-threatening condition.

Fire officials say the fire is out but there is still a lot of smoke inside the building.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
