A Calgary climber who was reported missing after he failed to return home from a trip to the Kananaskis earlier this week has been found dead near Mount Lawson.

The man was last heard from on Monday and RCMP in Kananaskis received a report that he was overdue on Tuesday.

His vehicle was located on an access road near Mount Lawson and his body was found a short time later.

Police say it appears that the man may have triggered a small avalanche.

The Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The name of the deceased man has not been released.
