A controversial festival has been discontinued.
For the past three years, the Bow River Flow saw lanes of Memorial Drive closed to vehicle traffic, so Calgarians could bicycle, take part in yoga sessions and visit tents of local merchants and community groups.
The road closure had a lot of people up in arms.
Organizer Gerald Wheatley says the decision to not hold the event this year was made so resources could be directed to the open streets Calgary project, which promotes sustainable transportation options like cycling.
