The British Columbia Coroners Service has identified the British woman who died following a collision with a snowboarder on February 9, 2016 at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
According to the coroners service, 55-year-old Anne Woods of Crawley, West Sussex, England was the victim of the fatal crash at the resort near Golden, B.C.
Woods and her husband Terry were part of a group of eight people from Great Britain visiting the ski resorts of the Canadian Rockies. The Woods were in the third week of their three week vacation after spending time in Lake Louise and Banff.
According to Terry, his wife was enjoying a return to the slopes after overcoming the disability of rheumatoid arthritis through medication.
Terry says Anne was skiing in a slow ski zone when she was struck by a speeding snowboarder. Woods lost consciousness at the moment of impact and never regained awareness.
Anne Woods was airlifted to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. She succumbed to her injuries in hospital on February 11.
