Two people are facing drug and weapons charges after police executed warrants in Brooks last weekend in connection to a drug investigation.

The ALERT Medicine Hat Organized Crime team seized eleven firearms on Saturday and arrested two people and also confiscated a quantity of drugs.

Jordan Vikedal, 24, is charged with trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of an unauthorized firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of proceeds of crime.

Jacalyn Sammut, 23, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of an unauthorized firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of proceeds of crime.

The seized firearms arsenal consisted of:

  • Two prohibited handguns
  • Three shotguns
  • Six high-powered rifles; including a SKS Soviet semi-automatic carbine

Police also seized over an ounce of cocaine that was packaged in 35 bags and ready for street-level sale, and over $8,000 in cash.

The investigation was launched in November in response to suspected drug trafficking in the area.
