Work to repair the damage from the 2013 floods has been ongoing over the last three years and the city is now gathering input from the community on proposed flood mitigation projects through a series of citizen workshops.

The floods in 2013 affected over 100,000 Albertans, displaced thousands of Calgarians and destroyed homes, buildings and businesses in dozens of communities across the city.

The city has conducted a number of studies to look at flood risks, land use policies and how the river has changed since the floods and it is now developing a plan for mitigation measures.

A number of workshops and open houses will be held in November and December to collect input from Calgarians on proposed flood mitigation projects.
