Calgary's public schools can look forward to more money for schools, new teaching positions, and administrative cuts.

The Calgary Board of Education passed its 2012-13 budget, which includes an additional $21 million for schools, but will do so by dipping into reserve funds.

The budget passed 5-2. Trustees Carol Bazinet and Sheila Taylor voted against the budget saying it's too light on details. They also want the province to put more money into school maintenance and busing.

The new budget follows two years of budget cuts and teacher layoffs. The CBE still faces a $16 million shortfall that's being filled with reserve funds to balance the books.

163 full-time jobs will be added to the current roster of more than 9,000.
