A Calgary man is attempting to make the world a better place by hitting the road and offering his services, without cost, to people in need.

Mike Ramsden, a mechanical contractor, owned a home and a successful company for the last decade before reaching the decision to cash out.

Ramsden and his canine companions, Daisy and Cooper, will travel throughout North America. The trio will ride in a pickup truck pulling a fifth wheel trailer guided by a desire to visit wherever Ramsden’s skills can help.

The 33-year-old will depart Calgary on July 15 destined for Alaska. He hopes to offer assistance to anyone facing a difficult financial situation.

“It’s just somebody who maybe they’re just down-and-out and then their furnace dies, or their boiler dies,” explained Ramsden. “That’s a $7,000 to $10,000 touch. If somebody wants to do the purchase of the boiler or the furnace or whatever, I’ll put it in.”

Kaie Ramsden, Michael’s mother, is not surprised by her son’s decision.

“If you know Mikey, you know he always goes above and beyond,” said Kaie. “He does stuff out of the goodness of his heart.”

“I hope that other people can see what he is doing and put more good back into our world.”

Ramsden plans to document his travels with a YouTube vlog and hopes his actions inspire other.
