A Calgary man has cashed in on a tasty idea; he was paid $50,000 for his winning potato chip flavour.

Randall Litman beat the competition in a nation-wide contest with his winning combination, Jalapeno Mac N’ Cheese.

A million chip lovers submitted their ideas to Lays Do Us a Flavour contest.

Canadians voted and Litman’s inspired flavour sensation won.

He was competing against such flavours as Bacon Poutine, Tzatziki, and Cinnamon Bun.

Littman said he still can’t believe his luck.

Littman said it’s a “very surreal feeling when you look at something like that, you see your name and picture on the back of the bag.  It’s something out of this world.”

He said the money will help him buy a new home.

Litman not only takes home $50,000, he also gets one per cent of future sales of Jalapeno Mac N' Cheese on Lay's Wavy.

The stakes were much higher for contestants in the U.S. – a million dollars was up for grabs.

A mother of three came up with the winning idea in the U.S. – Kettle-cooked Wasabi Ginger.
