A suspect in a series of commercial robberies on the weekend has been arrested and police believe he is also responsible for holding up four banks in the city.

Last weekend, a man threatened employees with a knife at The Big Cheese Poutinerie in the 200 block of 10 Street N.W. and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Soon after, a man walked into Dave’s Liquor in the 1500 block of 16 Avenue N.W.,  produced a knife and ordered staff to place money in a bag.

Police were then called to two more robberies; one at the Liquor Depot on Midlake Boulevard S.E. and another at the Domino’s Pizza on Richard Way S.W.

On Monday afternoon, police released images of a suspect in connection to the robberies and later in the day, the same suspect is believed to have robbed a TD Canada Trust in the 5600 block of Signal Hill Centre S.W.

HAWCS tracked the suspect’s vehicle while officers on the ground moved in to make an arrest.

Police found evidence linking the suspect to three more bank robberies; two at TD Canada Trusts and one at a CIBC.

Kee Wing Tung, also known as Stephen Tung, 55, of Calgary, is charged with eight counts of robbery.
