A Calgary man is facing criminal charges after a fatal rollover on a southern Ontario highway over the weekend.

OPP officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 southwest of London just after 8:33 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say the driver of a Chevrolet Equinox SUV lost control of his vehicle, ran off the roadway and rolled in a ditch.

Five people were in the vehicle at the time.

Two people were taken to a London hospital and another received minor injuries.

A fourth man, Mohamed Koko, was also taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

The driver was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.

James Lugela, 25, of Calgary, is charged with:
 

  • Impaired Operation/Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle Cause Death
  • Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Cause Bodily Harm
  • Fail to Provide a Breath Sample
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death
  • Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
