Since 2002, the Maple Festival des Sucres allows all Calgarians to share a cultural tradition of Eastern Canada while presenting the history and diversity of Francophone culture in Western Canada. The objective is to introduce the public to the rich Francophone heritage and cultural diversity of this country, and offer everyone a memorable cultural experience in French while mingling with Francophones and Francophiles alike.

This 12th annual Maple Festival will offer a variety of interactive outdoor activities for everyone in addition to historical guided tours of the old district of Rouleauville now called Mission. You will also find a children’s Village with a full program of artistic workshops for the young, the Maple Sugar Market where local craftsmen will present their know-how, merchants will be offering maple products, associations and private companies will promote their products and services. And you can't be missing the maple taffy on snow offered on site, as well as other maple dishes served at the food kiosk.

In addition to local and regional métis and francophone musical and dance performers, the Festival features a French-Canadian folkloric group: Les cuillères à carreaux, coming from Québec to entertain the public, as well as Martin, the Captain Jack Sparrow look-alike and his family show named “Le Coffre aux souhaits” (The trunk of wishes).
