Calgary police are looking for a male suspect in connection with a double stabbing in Huntington Hills early Monday morning.

The stabbing took place at a home in the 200 block of Huntcroft Road N.E. at about 7:45 a.m.

EMS say two people, a man and a woman, were taken to Foothills Medical Centre in life-threatening and serious condition.

Neighbours say they heard a commotion at the home earlier in the morning. Sean Esopenko said that he heard a woman screaming and, shortly afterwards, the police arriving in the area.

Residents say the family who lived at the home only moved in about four or five years ago. They say there were at least four adults; a mother, a father and grandparents along with three children.

Esopenko told CTV the parents didn't speak much English and they kept to themselves.

"The daughter spoke English and would play with the neighbours' daughter, but I didn't really know the family."

Investigators say a man was seen fleeing the home.

Police have described the male suspect as:

  • East Asian
  • Approximately 50 years old
  • Wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt
