Calgary’s tourism industry is enjoying a busy summer.

Staff at local attractions is hoping the steady traffic continues into the fall.

The Calgary Zoo was counting on big numbers to walk through the gates to help it rebound from last year’s flood.

And the numbers are good; zoo attendance is the same as the five-year average.

Calaway Park also had a strong season.

It attracts about half a million people during the 102 day season and this year’s attendance is up by three per cent.

Heritage Park usually has about 500-thousand visitors annually, this year it has had more.  Heritage Park has had a 13 per cent increase in the number of visitors.

This is the first year the new Hop-On Hop-Off tour buses has been available in Calgary.

Tony Pietromonaco from Round the Block Tours says “it’s been quite steady… as people are starting to see the buses around town, there's quite a bit of interest.”
