Protesters of the proposed logging project at Castle Mountain say there are disappointed after a short meeting with Alberta’s environment minister.

Many residents have opposed the plans by Spray Lakes Sawmills to clearcut 81 square km of forest.

The group at the head of the protests says they aren’t getting any clear answers.

“We are not going to stop opposing the logging of the Castle Mountain. We will not stop pushing for protection of the Castle as a wildland and provincial park. This is a campaign that’s been going on for 20 years and we need to just get ‘er done,” says Sarah Elmelgi of the group Stop Castle Logging.

Elmelgi says they will step up its campaign to stop the proposal.

Protest camps and picket lines were set up for several weeks until police ordered them to be taken down.
