Lethbridge police have arrested and charged a local man in connection to an August 7 incident at the Bridgeview Campground which hospitalized one man.

According to officers, police responded to the campsite following reports a 50-year-old man had been struck by a vehicle. An investigation determined the victim had been sitting in a chair when the collision occurred. Police have confirmed the suspect and victim are known to one another.

The man was transported to hospital by EMS with serious injuries. As of August 14, the victim remains in hospital in serious, but stable, condition.

On Wednesday, the suspect entered the Lethbridge Regional Police Service station and surrendered himself to police.

Vincent William Boutcher, a 50-year-old man from Lethbridge, was arrested and charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Dangerous driving causing bodily harm
  • Criminal negligence causing bodily harm

Boutcher has been released from police custody but his release carries a number of conditions including:

  • He may not contact the victim
  • He is prohibited from visiting Bridgeview Campground

Boutcher is scheduled to appear in court on August 28.
