A 20-year-old Calgary man has been arrested and charged in relation to an early Thursday morning incident on the Stampede Grounds that sent one person to hospital in critical condition.

Shortly after midnight Thursday morning, officers responded to the midway of the Calgary Stampede following reports of a fight. Two people suffering from stab wounds were located at the scene of the fight. One of the injured was in critical condition and transported by ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre. The second victim suffered less severe injuries and was taken to the Rockyview General Hospital.

Police determined the suspect was also suffering from stab wounds and the man was transported to hospital.

Police believe the suspect stabbed the critically injured victim and have laid charges in connection to the attack.
