The Blood Tribe Police Service say charges are pending against two people in connection with a significant seizure of drugs and contraband during a traffic stop in Standoff.

On October 8, police with the service that patrols the Blood Indian Reserve, stopped a late model vehicle near the community and arrested the two occupants based on items found in their vehicle.

A further search discovered a large quantity of illicit drugs which were packaged for re-sale and a substantial amount of cash considered to be the proceeds of crime.

Police seized the following:

  • $11,920.55 in Canadian currency
  • 1,003 tablets of suspected fentanyl (estimated value $50,150)
  • 100 grams of suspected crack cocaine (estimated value $10,000)
  • 19 illicit prescription tablets
  • 6.4 grams of marijuana
  • Brass knuckles
  • Pepper spray
  • Three cell phones

Police also seized a number of items that were suspected to have been stolen. They are trying to find the rightful owners to have those items returned.

Two people were arrested but have not been formally charged.
