A two-year-old child left alone inside a warm car is luckily okay, but the incident is prompting reminders from Calgary emergency services that those situations can have tragic results.

A passerby spotted the child alone inside a vehicle in the parking lot of Marlborough Mall in northeast Calgary on Sunday afternoon.

They flagged down an EMS crew and the fire department and Calgary Police soon arrived.

Fire crews opened the door and the child’s parents were found inside the mall a short time later.

EMS says the child may have been inside the car for up to 45 minutes.

The two-year-old was taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in stable condition where they are expected to recover.
