Two climbers visiting from the UK stumbled on a bear in Banff National Park when it attacked.

The men who were visiting from the UK, were attempting to climb Mount Wilson in Banff National Park. They say they came across the bear which suddenly charged them.

One of the men fell and the grizzly jumped on him and bit into his leg. He managed to fight off the bear and both men fled but got lost and wandered in the wilderness for about an hour trying to find their way out.

When they reached ground level they went to the Banff hospital where the man with the bites was treated.

The hospital notified Parks Canada which is the protocol when a person is injured by wildlife.
