The bitter cold is causing problems with water pipes all over the city and crews were called out to a number of locations to mop up the frozen mess on Monday.

Emergency crews have been keep hopping with calls about burst pipes.

A sprinkler pipe burst in the ceiling of the Safeway store in Brentwood and fire crews spent most of the morning mopping up water and getting everything back in order.

The water damaged part of the ceiling and one of the doors.

City crews also continued the cleanup in Acadia after a water main break flooded some streets on Sunday.

The Kahanoff Centre also experienced problems after staff arrived to find water filling the lobby.

The building houses a number of non-profit organizations and many were asked to work from home while repairs were being made.
