An early morning collision involving a sedan and a Calgary Transit truck sent one man to hospital.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., a car travelling eastbound on Crowchild Trail Northwest struck a stationary Calgary Transit truck near the Dalhousie LRT station. According to witnesses, the impact of the collision with the truck sent the car flying through the air. It is believed the truck’s emergency lights were engaged at the time of the crash.

Fire crews responded to the crash scene and extricated the driver, the lone occupant, from the vehicle wreckage.

According to EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux, the driver, a man in his mid-twenties, suffered injuries to his lower legs and potential injuries to his chest. The patient was transported to the Foothills Medical Centre in serious, but stable, condition.

The Calgary Police Service traffic unit is investigating the crash.
