A popular breakfast establishment has reopened after being temporarily shut down for health code violations.

Nellie's Cosmic Cafe on 17 Ave. S.W. was forced to close on Wednesday after inspectors discovered a sewer back-up.

The restaurant underwent a thorough cleaning and on Thursday the restaurant was given the green light to resume serving customers.

Wednesday’s infractions are not the first health code violations in the history of Nellie’s.

In 2010, the owner was fined $60,000 for violations in five of her restaurants.
