24 students joined musicians from the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra for a concert and an opportunity to try to play a few notes.

The students are part of the Calgary Police Service’s Multi Agency School Support Team. It’s a program aimed at helping kids between 5 and 12 years of age stay on the right track.

The musical petting zoo, as it was called, was held Monday afternoon at the Calgary Police Service Headquarter in northeast Calgary.

The CPO’s Principal Timpanist Alexander Cohen said “it’s so fun to see the excitement on a kid’s face when you give them a bass drum mallet and they give a good whack to the drum and they usually get pretty excited.   So that’s fun for us to feel their energy”.
