Fire crews had to extricate two people from a vehicle that crashed on Stoney Trail in the city’s southeast on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the ring road south of 17 Avenue S.E. just after 3:00 p.m. for reports of a crash in the southbound lane.

Three people were in one vehicle and fire crews had to extricate two of them from the wreckage.

One person was in the second vehicle, which was found overturned when crews arrived.

All four people were taken to hospital. EMS says one is in life-threatening condition and the other three are in non-life threatening condition.

Traffic was tied up on the roadway for a time while police investigated.
