A 19-year-old man has died in a cycling accident.
His bicycle was hit by a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier in the intersection of Marquis of Lorne Trail and Chaparral Boulevard SE.
The crash occurred just after 2:30 AM Sunday morning.
At the time of the collision, EMS transported the cyclist to the hospital, and he was listed in critical, life threatening condition. Late this afternoon, however, the victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The male driver of the Cavalier, and the female passenger were uninjured.
The Calgary Police Traffic Section is investigating the circumstances of the collision. Alcohol relative to the driver of the Cavalier is not considered to be a factor. As the matter is still under investigation, no determination surrounding charges has yet been made.
