A 100 acre urban village is being planned for an area east of Canada Olympic Park and on Tuesday the developer shared its vision for the project.

Trinity Development Group purchased the 260 acres of land and says it will donate two-thirds of it to the City of Calgary to be preserved for public enjoyment.

“We are excited to launch this unique project that puts a Calgary spin on a new urban village set against a breathtaking natural backdrop,” said Trinity spokesperson Ingrid Beausoleil. “We are committed to developing a beautiful gateway connecting this great City to the Rockies that Calgarians can be proud of.”

Trinity says it bought the land knowing that much of it needed to remain in a natural state and that’s why it has dedicated some of the land to Calgarians.

“When we purchased the land, we did our research and we understand what is important to Calgarians. While the Paskapoo Slopes are a popular recreational destination, portions of the slopes are also home to important First Nations archaeological sites and valuable habitats for natural flora and fauna. Surprisingly, this land is currently not protected,” said Beausoleil.

Trinity is proposing the development of a mixed use community for the 100 acres of the bottom slopes and says it has met with 15 communities to gather feedback.

“We want our neighbours to know what we’re planning. We have the opportunity to explain how it’s different than other proposals they’ve seen before. We also want to hear what’s important to them,” said Beausoleil.

Calgarians can learn more about it at two open houses:
