The family of a woman who went missing from her southwest Calgary home on Saturday is desperately pleading the public for help.
Sandra Mykytiuk-Evans, 56, mother of three, was last seen around 6 p.m. on December 29 in southwest Calgary.
Family and friends gathered at the edge of a ravine near Olympic Heights Elementary on Tuesday to let people know about their concern and to thank the search and rescue personnel already hard at work searching Edworthy Park.
The park is a starting point for rescuers because her family says she liked to go on walks there.
There is no evidence that she’s been there lately, but it’s all they have to go on for now.
Her family says that her disappearance is very uncommon for her and they are particularly worried because she is supposed to be taking anti-depressants and may not have her medication with her.
They’ve been putting up flyers in the area, attempting to spread the word of her disappearance and garner some leads to her whereabouts from the public.
“From our perspective we have absolutely no idea where she is,” says Ashley Vanwinkle. “We have no clues, we have exhausted every possible resource that we have to find her and we have no idea where she is at this point.”
About 40 volunteers from the Search and Rescue team, police officers, K-9, and HAWCS all aided in the search on Saturday and Sunday, but have since come up empty-handed.
They have since come up with nothing in their search.
Police say the search is still active but they are hoping the public will come up with something that can help rescuers locate the 56-year-old woman.
Unfortunately, the family has no idea what type of clothing she was wearing when she disappeared.
She is described as:
- Caucasian
- light brown hair
- brown eyes
If anyone has information about her whereabouts, they are asked to call police.
