A man is listed in critical, life threatening condition after he was stabbed inside a downtown Calgary apartment complex on Friday morning.

Police were initially alerted to the situation by a call from the 1100 block of 15 Ave. S.W.

They say in a release that further investigation led them to an apartment complex in the 2300 block of 16A St. S.W. at around 3 a.m.

There, they found a man in his early 20s suffering from stab wounds.

According to investigators, the man had been stabbed in the groin and had lost a lot of blood as a result.

He was taken to hospital after the incident.

Police are currently interviewing a number of witnesses but they say they don’t have any suspects at this time.

They add they have no details on any motive for the attack, but they do say the stabbing was targeted.
