An eight-year-old girl is in hospital in critical condition after she was hit by a truck while crossing the street in Cremona.
On Monday at about 3:30 p.m. a semi truck, driven by a 27-year-old man from Caroline, was traveling northbound on Hwy. 22 when the girl suddenly crossed in a crosswalk.
The driver spotted the girl in the road, and tried to swerve, but hit her with the side of the vehicle.
She was transported to Alberta Children’s Hospital from the scene by STARS and is currently listed in critical condition.
The RCMP is conducting the investigation.
They aren’t considering speed, alcohol, or weather as contributing factors in the crash.
There is no word on charges against the driver.
