According to a ThinkHQ poll, over half of Albertans surveyed strongly believe the PCs have been in power for too long and it’s time for a change.

ThinkHQ surveyed more than 1800 people online between April 2nd and 6th.

Respondents were given a list of statements about the upcoming election and were asked to rate them.

When asked if 43 years in power is too long, it’s time for change in Alberta:

  • 51 percent strongly agreed
  • 18 percent somewhat agreed
  • 12 percent somewhat disagreed
  • 8 percent strongly disagreed
  • The rest were unsure

When asked if Alberta needs to have a strong opposition to keep the government honest:

  • 60 percent strongly agreed
  • 27 percent somewhat agreed
  • 5 percent somewhat disagreed
  • 1 percent strongly disagreed
  • The rest were unsure

When asked if they were happy about the Wildrose MLA’s crossing the floor to the PCs:

  • 54 percent strongly agreed
  • 17 percent somewhat agreed
  • 9 percent somewhat disagreed
  • 6 percent strongly disagreed
  • The rest were unsure

Respondents were also asked whether they think any of the opposition parties have what it takes to run the province:

  • 17 percent strongly agreed
  • 25 percent somewhat agreed
  • 20 percent somewhat disagreed
  • 23 percent strongly disagreed
  • The rest were unsure

(Total Alberta Interviews unweighted = 1835 with a Margin of Error +/-2.3 percent)
