Alberta's Best Kept Musical Secret at EPCOR CENTRE

New +15 Soundscape

Calgary EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts is thrilled to present Multiambient, a sound work created specifically for EPCOR CENTRE by internationally acclaimed sound artist Tona Walt Ohama.

Multiambient is a flexible, original composition with no set duration. Any parts can mix at any time and be played on simultaneous sound systems. The output can be organized in any pattern or volume, allowing the audience to be stationary or move freely, altering their experience with the sound piece.

“In the ‘90s, I would work late into the night using multiple computer systems and stream multiple radio/music tracks on multiple speaker systems,” says Ohama. “There was often an amazing synchronicity and organic beauty in the random mix of songs that were never intended to be mixed together.”
