Lottery winner turned philanthropist Tom Crist and a local concrete cutting company joined forces to bring smiles to the faces of families currently residing at the Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta.

A-1 Concrete Cutting purchased 25 Samsung Galaxy 3 tablets and distributed them among the families at the Ronald McDonald House.

Crist, who won $40 million in a December Lotto Max drawing, supplied 25 subscriptions to Kidoodle TV, a video-on-demand service which provides children with shows appropriate for their age, to the families who have children undergoing medical treatment.

Crist is an investor in Kidoodle but says his goals for the company are not financially motivated.

“I really believe in what Kidoodle is doing,” said Crist. “I believe in the process and what they're trying to do for parents and kids. Any revenue that comes out of Kidoodle goes right back into the foundation.”

The lottery winner has created the Crist Family Foundation to help sick children and people battling cancer. Among his charitable contributions, Crist has donated more than a million dollars to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre where his wife Janice received medical treatment prior to her passing.
