The family of Rino (Ray) Johnson is speaking out about the city's latest murder victim.

"This is a difficult and horrible time for our family...my grandpa was viciously beaten. We can only hope and pray that he didn't suffer," says grandson Tracy Johnson.

Rino (Ray) Johnson's body was discovered in an industrial area in the community of Ramsay on Saturday.

An autopsy revealed he was killed by blunt-force trauma.

Police now say they believe Johnson's body was dumped in the area but he was actually killed elsewhere.

Johnson enjoyed bargain hunting and attended flea markets and garage sales. "One of the investigative avenues we are pursuing is that Mr. Johnston was targeted because of this," says Insp. Guy Slater from the Calgary Police Service.

Tracy Johnson described his 77-year-old grandfather as a loving, caring man who had many friends. In 2001, he lost his wife to cancer and at the time of his death, was in remission from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The family is appealing to the public to help find Johnson's killer. "We are pleading with the community to bring any information they have so there can be justice for my grandpa and the family," says Tracy Johnson.

Investigators are hoping the public can help trace his movements prior to his death on Friday, January 30th and Saturday, January 31st.
