One child has died and two other children were rushed to hospital after an horrific crash near Chestermere.
The crash happened just after 4:00 p.m. when a northbound car on Paradise Road entered the intersection of Highway 1 and was hit by a mini-van.
Police say one female child was thrown from the rear seat of the vehicle and taken by STARS to hospital in Calgary.
A second male child was pronounced dead at the scene and a third male child was transported by ground ambulance.
EMS estimates the children are between the ages of 5 and 8 years old.
The two women in the front seat were transported to hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the mini-van was not hurt.
Highway 1 eastbound has been shut down while police investigate.
