Officers suspect the vehicle had been travelling along a powerline clearing when it crested a hill. The vehicle rolled while descending the hill, resulting in significant damage to the ATV’s roll bars and cab.

The driver of the ATV, a 37-year-old man from Blackfalds, received CPR for approximately 45 minutes before succumbing to his injuries at the crash scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The passenger, a 31-year-old man from Red Deer, was airlifted to Calgary by a STARS Air Ambulance crew in stable, non-life threatening condition.

RCMP continue to investigate the collision with assistance from the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office.
