Only in Canada - Calgary fire crews had to put out a blaze in a pile of hockey sticks on Wednesday night.

A family member was returning home early in the morning and spotted the fire, immediately calling the fire department.

Crews reported to the fire in the 300 block of Sackville Dr. S.W. and found the fire in a pile of hockey sticks that had been stacked beside the attached garage.

The flames had spread to the exterior of the garage but it was caught early so the damage to the structure was minimal.

A careful investigation found that the home was otherwise undamaged and it was safe for the family to go back inside.

No one was injured in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
