Crews were able to contain a fire at a southeast Calgary eatery on Tuesday morning but say it will be several days before the Regal Beagle is back in business.

Emergency crews were called to the pub in the 100 block of 94 Avenue S.E. at about 7:00 a.m. for reports of a fire and say the call came in from the alarm company after the detectors and sprinklers in the building were activated.

Crews could see smoke coming from the pub when they arrived and forced entry to attack the fire.

They were able to contain the blaze to the business and officials say most of the damage is in the kitchen but that there is smoke damage throughout the building.

There was no one in the business at the time and no injuries were reported.

A fire investigator is working to determine a cause and will also look into whether all fire safety systems were functioning properly.

Officials say the pub will be closed for several days while repairs are made.
