It was a birthday celebration that went terribly wrong.

Police are still investigating Sunday's fatal shooting at a northeast restaurant.  Gunshots rang out at approximately 2:00 a.m. at the Basil Ultimate Pho and Fine Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant in the Centre 32 strip mall.

The shooting left one man dead and three others partygoers suffering from gunshot wounds.

According to witnesses, two men wearing hoodies entered the establishment and opened fire.

Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack directed at the man who died and are not ruling out a possible gang connection in this case.

They say the focus now remains on completing the deceased individual's autopsy.

“After the autopsy we may learn some things that could lead us to a direction as to what we need to look at the scene,” says Duty Inspector Paul Stacey.

Police hope to clear the crime scene by Wednesday. They have received a number of tips from witnesses and others in the community.
