Owners of the controversial GuZoo Animal Farm say two of their wolves were deliberately poisoned and they're blaming anti-zoo activists.

Two timberwolves, Zookey and Cheyenne, were found dead in their enclosure Tuesday morning.

The pair are the parents of five new wolf pups.

An autopsy performed by GuZoo's veterinarian suggests one wolf was poisoned with cyanide. The second wolf will be examined by an independent vet in Calgary.

Animal rights groups have documented years of unsanitary conditions at GuZoo, including dirty drinking water.

The zoo is currently operating without a permit until a judicial review decides whether to shut it down.
