A Calgary couple who were on the final cruise of the Costa Concordia are keeping an eye on the hearing of the ship's captain.

Andrea and Laurence Davis were on board the Concordia when it struck ground and capsized in January.

The Davis’ escaped by jumping off the listing ship into the Mediterranean and swimming to shore.

This week Captain Francesco Schettino is in an Italian court for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to put him on trial for manslaughter and abandoning ship.

“The emotions, the trauma we've been through, Andrea is still going through a hell of a lot,” says Laurence Davis.  “There's got to be consequences.”

“If you speed down the road, you get caught? Fine, you know that's it.  This is more serious, obviously so it's definitely got to come to some conclusion.”

32 people were killed in the tragedy.

The Davis' say they want Carnival Cruises, the ship's owner, to take some blame for what happened.
