Crews are dealing with a house fire in downtown Edmonton that broke out on Wednesday morning.

They arrived on scene at just before 6 a.m. and found the house, near 122 Ave. and 104 St. N.W., fully engulfed in flames.

The fire is considered to be under control at this time.

Authorities say that at least one person was inside the home when it reportedly exploded.

Neighbours say they heard a loud blast and couldn't do anything once the building caught fire.

They have been taken to hospital.

There is no word on the extent of the victim’s injuries but it's thought that they may have suffered extensive burns.

There is also no information on a damage estimate.

Investigators say that the explosion is deemed to be suspicious.
